Is this event intended for folks who _use_ WordPress plugins, or for folks who _develop_ plugins?

I would describe myself as an intermediate developer, but it sounds like this is geared towards intermediate users...

This is for beginner & intermediate WP users, not developers. Sorry!

Hello I am new to the group and was wondering if there was a way to post on the message boards. I tried posting, yet for some reason was not able to.

We have received a lot of spam postings within the message boards and as a result we have disabled them. We *may* reinstate them in the future but for now, they are disabled. Please msg me if you need to discuss something.

Oh, ok. I actually did send a dm to the organizers of group, yet did not hear from anyone. :O/ Maybe you guys have been busy. I am new to group, and wanted to know of any good Word Press resources for starting out. Also resources online for creating a custom template psd to Word Press template. Would appreciate any tips from group membership, dm me with any responses to not flood the wall thanks!

This was my first Meetup with this WordPress group. Loved the presenter. She met my needs for plugins. Even answered my questions quite well. I enjoyed meeting the people there too. Now I know to come at 7:30 when the meeting really begins. Thanks for organizing this.
  • Deb Cartier
first time. Was nice to meet everyone. Special thanks to the organizers and Microsoft for the facility. Speaker was so-so. Bit disorganized and no handouts. Had few good plug-ins.
  • Evan Sobkowicz
I was hoping for a bit more, maybe recommendations of plugins. I think the session was incorrectly labeled .Intermediate.
  • Zac Champigny
I enjoyed the meetup very much. Meeting the members was the best part. I will say that the content of the day didn't end up pertaining to me very much but I wanted to come for the meetup itself so that was not an issue. I will recommend to the speaker that when people do ask "Is there a plug in for ___________?" that it might go a long way to simply do a search for whatever __________ is and asking the crowd if they have had success with any of the plug in's that show up. Other than that thanks for the talk about Plug ins =)
  • Eric Salerno
I was hoping for more than just a review of some of the plugins that the presenter thought were useful - and even some of those she wasn't really sure about. I'm not necessarily an expert, but this was better suited for absolute beginners. People were ready to start at 7, so I'd recommend to Jon, James and Kurt to consider posting a schedule so people know when the networking is going to take place (6-7?), start presentations at 7 sharp, and limit Meetup Group formalities to just a few minutes. The group itself is great, and I'm sure I'll be back.
  • Igshaan Taliep
Too basic. Presenter was not knowledgeable about the wp platform when questions was asked.
  • Danielle DosReis
I left early because I did not feel that it was valuable. Unfortunately, it started 50 minutes late. The title for the event stated that it was for "Intermediates" and the speaker went over the very basics of what a plug-in was, how to search for them, how to download them, etc. I went looking for info, suggestions and tips & tricks on new or more advanced plug-ins instead. I will definitely be going to meetups in the future as I would still like to learn more about WordPress :) Thank you for what you do for the community!
  • Ken
The pizza and networking were both great, as I expected! The presentation, not so much. The presenter didn't seem well-prepared -- but more important, for an event that has the word "Intermediate" in the title, this was really a beginner class.
  • Phoebe Sinclair
Because I'm new, I didn't realize that the lecture portion of the meet-up wouldn't start until 7:30. The presenter's style didn't quite work for me, but I did appreciate her sense of history and a few of the more concrete tips she offered.
  • Darcy Duke
I know this was geared toward beginners/intermediates, but I'm afraid I didn't learn much new. I know what plugins are, but just superficially how to find and use them and the session didn't go much beyond that level (so I would have advertised it as more definitely for beginners). I was hoping to have someone more technically knowledgeable to answer questions. I also was under the impression that the session started at 7pm - if you are going to have 30 minutes of free pizza/networking (thanks, that's awesome, BTW), it would be great to advertise that more clearly (and hopefully start 30 minutes earlier?). The talk didn't wind up actually starting until 7:45 due to technical issues with the AV. I appreciate all the work that goes into running these (I'm active in a professional group myself), so I hate to complain - hopefully this is useful feedback.
  • Sidi Belkziz
It was great. It opened my mind to a new programming platform. I am in the process of reading “ WorldPress Plugin development” guide.
  • Steve Marsel
Not enough material covered. I thought it was excruciating
  • William Tice
This was my first meeting so I was a bit surprised at the glacial pace - didn't start at 7pm, technical problems that should have been ironed out during the long wait before starting rather than waiting for the room to be full, and the kind of scatter-shot presentation. On the other hand, the advice on key plug-ins to have on every installation was exactly what I was looking for & made the session worthwhile, although more discussion on other types of plug-ins - e.g., calculators, tools, etc., would have been useful.
